On August 15, 2017, the STAR Transit Board of Directors approved a fare restructure for all service areas. This includes a discount for qualified seniors 60 plus, veterans and persons with disabilities. To qualify, riders must complete an eligibility form for STAR Transit to review. STAR Transit will make a decision based on the information provided.
The new fare structure goes into effect November 1, 2017. During the application process, the discounted fare will be offered. The deadline to have the eligibility form completed and assessment done is December 31, 2017. After that date, riders will be responsible for paying the full fare amount.
If you feel you qualify under the elderly, veteran and/or disabled categories, eligibility forms can be accessed in the following ways:
- Call: Phone STAR Transit at (877) 631-5278.
- Fax: Print either the Senior or Veteran Reduced Fare Application (English)/Senior or Veteran Reduced Fare Application (Español) or the Disabled_Reduced Fare Application (English)/Disabled_Reduced Fare Application (Español) , complete and fax to (972) 563-1491.
- Email: Send an email to the Mobility Management Dpt, MobilityDpt@STARtransit.org.
- In Person: Forms are located at 500 Industrial Blvd., Terrell, TX 75160.
Assessments can be scheduled, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. If approved, a photo will be taken for the STAR Transit Reduced Fare ID pass. If requested, STAR Transit will provide free transportation to the assessment appointment. There will be a $2.00 processing fee.
The Reduced Fare ID pass must be presented to the driver each time a rider boards any STAR Transit vehicle.
